The November edition of FutureStructure examines two of the most fundamental systems in cities, the built environment and the transportation network in place to help navigate it. Both, the publication says, are on the brink of radical transformation.
The issue overall covers how smart communities and intelligent transportation systems are paving the way forward for cities and it’s worth a look.
The articles feature how intelligence and data are changing the nature of cities and includes a piece about recent attention on zero net energy (ZNE) districts, neighborhoods or even whole cities titled, “Absolute Zero: Building sustainable and resilient zero-net energy communities.”
FutureStructure is an initiative from the publishers of GOVERNING, Government Technology and Emergency Management, together with the GOVERNING Institute and the Center for Digital Government. The goal is to help public sector leaders think more like system engineers and thereby get past the constraints inherent in the siloed approaches that government often encounters when conceiving of and building a community’s future.
