Zachary Berzolla

Graduate Student/Research Assistant | Sustainable Design Lab, MIT

Zach Berzolla is a graduate student in Building Technology at MIT. His research in the Sustainable Design Lab focuses on energy efficiency implementation in cities and across geographically distributed building portfolios to enable large-scale emissions reduction efforts. Zach holds dual bachelors degrees in physics and energy systems engineering from Middlebury College and Dartmouth College, respectively. While at Middlebury, he led the development of a ten year campus plan to reduce energy consumption significantly through efficiency and source all remaining energy from renewables that was adopted by the College’s Board of Trustees. He also led a team of 15 that won the 2018 U.S. DOE Race to Zero Elementary School Design Challenge.
