Ted leads Guttmann & Blaevoet’s Building Performance Team and is the Director of Sustainability for the company. Ted has 18 years of experience using various energy analysis tools modeling energy, comfort, and daylighting. Ted provides analysis for various office, retail, healthcare, laboratory buildings including naturally ventilated and mixed mode buildings. He has been a part-time lecturer at Sonoma State University teaching “Computer aided applications in Energy Management & Design”. Teaching in a Net Zero Energy building, SSU’s Environmental Technology Center, designed for natural ventilation has given him practical experience living in a high performance building. With a background in construction, project management, energy efficiency, and sustainability, Ted understands key success factors to integrated building design. Ted has been working with the California Energy Commission, IOU’s from the Energy Code Ace team and currently serves on the LEED Energy & Atmosphere Technical Advisory Group. He is passionately focused on Zero Net Energy buildings and their interaction with the grid systems with NBI’s GridOptimal Initiative and healthy electrification through the Building Decarbonization Coalition.
