Sarah Yuko Schneider is the Deputy Director of the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides objective, scientific information related to cool surfaces to critical discussions and informed decisions about the impacts of heat islands, extreme heat, and energy use in the built environment. She has been with the organization since 2013, and oversees the organization’s policy and standards development; ANSI and ISO accreditations; code advocacy; and outreach and education activities.

Prior to the CRRC, Sarah worked on codes and standards development for an energy efficiency consulting firm, developed stakeholder outreach materials for California’s Marine Protected Areas through the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and managed a municipal energy program. She has a Master’s degree in Public Policy with a focus in Environmental Justice and a B.S. in Environmental Science.

Sarah resides in a multicultural, multigenerational household in Portland, OR and is the proud mother of a rambunctious four-year old son and two equally rambunctious cats.
