Sal Barnes is the CEO and Co-founder of Aureus Earth, the leading carbon finance company in the built environment. At Aureus Earth, Sal helped complete the world’s first carbon offset transaction in a mass timber building. Sal has focused Aureus Earth on the creation of carbon assets as a financing mechanism for mass timber buildings. Sal has helped author three protocols and five patents focused on carbon finance in the built environment. Before his time at Aureus Earth, Sal held various leadership positions in strategic consulting firms Oliver Wyman and Accenture. Sal also served as an Artillery Officer in the US Army for 8 years.
