Melanie Colburn

Director of U.S. Market Transformation and Development | USGBC

Melanie Colburn is a Director of U.S. Market Transformation and Development at the U.S. Green Building Council. She co-chairs the Market Leader Advisory Board for the USGBC Northern California and USGBC Orange County communities. She steers the USGBC’s Smart Building Summit and ran the “Smart Building Charrette, circa 2030: Realizing the Promise of High-Performance Green Buildings” at Greenbuild 2022. Melanie serves on the Political Economy Advisory Board at U.C. Berkeley, as well as on working groups with Build It Green and the Northwest Energy Efficiency Council’s Smart Building Center. 

Prior to joining USGBC, Melanie worked as a strategy and management consultant specializing in corporate responsibility and sustainability. Melanie holds an MBA in Sustainable Business from San Francisco State University and is a lifetime member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the International Business Honor Society. She graduated with honors and a double-major from the University of California, Berkeley. She recently earned a Circular Economy certificate from the University of Cambridge.
