Kathryn Phillips

Kathryn Phillips is director of Sierra Club California, the state legislative and regulatory arm of the Sierra Club, the largest and oldest grassroots environmental organization in the country. Since 2011, she has managed Sierra Club’s advocacy at the California State Capitol and at key state agencies.

She previously worked on environmental policy in California for Environmental Defense Fund and the Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Technologies. She has been based in Sacramento since 2001.

Before becoming an environmental policy advocate, Kathryn worked as a journalist for nearly 20 years. She has written for newspapers and magazines and is the author of two books about environmental issues, Tracking the Vanishing Frogs and Paradise by Design.
