Greg Hale is a co-founder and principal of Regen Associates LLC which is the owner / developer of The Catskill Project, a 25-home single-family residential community in Livingston Manor, NY. The Catskill Project combines Passive House, all-electric design with 100% clean electricity to make it the first carbon neutral single-family community in the region.
Greg left his position as Senior Advisor for Energy Efficiency Markets & Finance at NYSERDA in January 2024 to focus full time on The Catskill Project. At NYSERDA, Greg led the development of the Carbon Neutral Buildings Roadmap (CNBR), charting the path to a statewide carbon neutral building stock by mid-century. The CNBR was a foundational document for the Buildings Chapter of the New York Climate Action Council’s Final Scoping Plan. After completion of the CNBR, Greg focused on developing a comprehensive Financing Strategy to leverage low-cost private sector capital at scale to finance New York’s transition to clean and efficient buildings.
Prior to NYSERDA, Greg served in the Governor’s Office as Senior Advisor to NY’s Chairman of Energy & Finance, focused on development and execution of New York’s signature energy policy– Reforming the Energy Vision (REV). Greg also oversaw the establishment of the $1 billion NY Green Bank. Prior to joining the Governor’s Office, Greg was the Director of Efficiency Markets & Finance at the Natural Resources Defense Council’s Center for Market Innovation. Prior to NRDC, Greg was a real estate attorney at Skadden Arps, a major international law firm, and then co-founded Cirque Property LC, a real estate investment and management company based in Salt Lake City, UT.
Greg is a graduate of Dartmouth College and The University of Michigan Law School.
