Dr. Rob Hammon has over 35 years’ experience performing RD&D to improve energy-efficiency in buildings, and to optimally integrate efficiency and renewable-energy sources in residential buildings and communities, with the goal of providing practical and affordable residential “Zero Net Energy” communities. Dr. Hammon was the Lead Energy Consultant on the First Zero Energy Showcase Home at the 2004 International Builders Show, and for the First Zero Energy Home on ABC’s “Extreme Home Makeover” TV Show in 2005. Dr. Hammon has served on several government and industry advisory boards, including: being invited by the CEC Chair in 2006 to co-chair the newly established New Solar Homes Partnership Advisory Committee to develop an incentive program for builders to integrate PVs into efficient homes; being a member of U.S. DOE Task Force on Buildings for the 21st Century, and appointed by the CPUC to be Chair of the Residential Subcommittee for development of California’s Long Term Energy Efficiency Strategic Plan. Hammon earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. from the University of California and UC Davis. He has authored many research papers and reports, journal articles, and has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. He also holds several U.S. patents.
