Chen is CEO of Alfa Sustainable Projects Limited, specializing in highly technological sustainable projects.

The firm is leading the sustainable design of a number of leading projects such as the National Library, TEVA campus, and Amot Atrium LEED Platinum office tower, and are the design managers of several NZE projects. Chen is the head of the Smart Bases task force commissioned by the Ministry of Defense to define the sustainable outlines for around 4,000,000 sq.m of new construction. Alfa led the sustainable design and certification of the Google main office building in Tel Aviv, and Autodesk Tel Aviv R&D office. Both projects achieved LEED Platinum certification. Alfa are also responsible for the largest LEED project in Israel- the Broshim Campus Student Dormitory campus, which achieved LEED Gold certification for all campus buildings. The firm is working with the Prime minister office on implementing a sustainable building program for their infrastructure.

Chen was the co-director of the Israeli Team to Solar Decathlon china 2013, which won several prizes and was the first Israeli project to have a Net Positive Energy balance.

Chen worked as an Architect with Diamond & Schmitt Architects in Toronto, earned his LEED AP from the Canadian Green Building Council, and worked on some of the cutting edge sustainable projects at Diamond & Schmitt. Chen was trained by the CaGBC as facilitator in IDP- the Sustainable integrated design process, and holds a certificate from the Canadian Geo-Exchange™ Coalition, in Ground Source Heat Pump installations.
