Bringing individuals, nonprofits, businesses, and local governments together to accelerate the adoption of climate solutions.
This September, EarthShare NC is bringing Climate Week to North Carolina. This initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of scalable climate solutions with participation from individuals, nonprofits, businesses, and local governments. Taking place September 30th – October 4th, the program will feature a week of free virtual learning sessions, action-focused consultation workshops, and a Summit dedicated to fostering collaboration.
To mitigate the worst impacts of climate change, the United Nations has called for a 45% reduction in global greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050. This underscores the pressing need for immediate climate action. But how do we achieve these ambitious goals?
Everyone plays a role in the transition. Governments must enact policies that make climate solutions accessible and affordable and invest in clean energy jobs and infrastructure. Businesses must make swift reductions in carbon emissions and transition towards sustainable and ethical practices. Individuals can contribute by making green consumer choices and investments.
We know the solutions, but the challenge lies in bridging the gap between awareness and action. According to Kite Insight’s Every Job is a Climate Job, knowledge is the biggest obstacle to overcome. While companies have clear climate commitments, they don’t have a clear path; and while employees are eager to act, they don’t have the knowledge to effect change.
NC Climate Week aims to address these obstacles by providing participants with a robust knowledge base, matching the desire to act with tangible solutions, and facilitating collaboration among individuals, businesses, and government leaders to adopt and advance climate solutions.
