Shilpa Surana is the Energy Engineer in NEEA’s Code and Standards team, developing codes in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana. Shilpa joined NEEA in 2019 and has over a decade of experience in sustainable consulting for design and construction of green buildings, especially modeling high performance and net zero buildings. In 2017 she lead the Energy Trust of Oregon’s Net Zero Fellowship research on behalf of Brightworks Sustainability to identify the most cost-effective improvements to approach to net zero energy usage for two existing high performance buildings. She is interested in growing the market of practitioners to advance net zero design and research to address market and policy barriers in this region. She holds a Bachelors in Architecture from India, a Master of Science in Building performance and Diagnostics from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Master of Science in Environment Policy and Regulation from London School of Economics and Political Science.
