Head of Market Transformation | Green Building Council Australia

As the Head of Market Transformation, Jorge is responsible for ensuring the GBCA’s product and service offerings deliver more sustainable places for everyone.

Chief amongst his accomplishments is the latest version of Green Star, Australia’s leading sustainability rating tool for buildings, fitouts and communities. The new version of Green Star addresses issues such as climate change and adaptation plans, life cycle assessment of products and materials, healthy and active living programs for occupants, social return on investment, and economic resilience. In addition, he is responsible for GBCA’s net zero program, a label system recognising net zero greenhouse gas emissions, water, and waste for buildings in operation in Australia. He is also responsible for driving international partnerships with GBCA, including working with IWBI, ILFI, ClimateBonds, and USGBC, amongst others.

Jorge has an architecture degree from the University of Monterrey in Mexico and a Masters in Design Science from the University of Sydney.
