Anica Landreneau

Principal, Global Director of Sustainable Design | HOK

As Global Sustainable Design + Consulting Director, Anica manages the successful development and implementation of sustainability strategies on local and worldwide projects. Anica leads the sustainable discipline and consultancy practice as well as training for internal capacity building at HOK. Anica works with both public and private sectors clients on regional, campus, portfolio and building scale projects, including existing building stock.

In Washington, DC, Anica has worked with and continues to support the District of Columbia on local green building legislation, including green building policy development and implementation, public benchmarking, and authoring green building codes. Anica led development and authorship of several green building design, operations and existing building alterations guidebooks for the District and developed greening existing schools curriculum for the U.S. Green Building Council.

Anica is currently appointed to the DC Mayor’s Green Building Advisory Council, which advises on compliance with the current Green Building Act and Clean and Affordable Energy Act, as well as recommendations for amendments and updates to this legislation. Anica is also a voting member of the DC Green Building and Energy Technical Advisory Group, authoring high performance building codes for the District.

At a national scale, Anica serves on the Consultative Council for the National Institute of Building Sciences and national AIA committees for green building codes as well as Energy Curriculum and AIA 2030. Anica also leads HOK’s partnerships with the AIA Design and Health Research Consortium and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) EDGE green building program.

Anica co-authored with the U.S. General Services Administration The New Sustainable Frontier: Principles of Sustainable Development, and with the Saudi government authored the Sustainable Urban Planning Guidelines for New Growth in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which has been published, codified and enforced starting in 2014.
